In Vietnam, a combat Marine never knew when it was their time.  Michael Shane Caley had one week to go.  The night of August 23rd-24th, 1968; Mike Company 2nd Platoon set up in an ambush near Liberty Bridge.  In the morning Michael Caley relaxed with one week to go; sat up and stretched on one of the gravesites.  There was a flash.  After the flash, Michael Shane Caley was dead at just 20 years old.  Huffman couldn’t believe it, “one week to go” he said.  “You never know when it’s your time”.  Caley spent nearly 13 months in combat without a scratch.  After August 24th, 1968; Caley became another statistic of Mike Company 3/7.
