When Huffman lived at his sister, Mary’s, she was married to her husband, George Krause.  Mary and George had a daughter together, April.  April was two to four years old while Huffman lived with his sister Mary.  April was a cute little long-haired blonde; a little girl any uncle would want to spoil.  With the blessing of April’s parents, Huffman would take her to the store on his shoulders and ask her to pull the hair out of his eyes so he could see better.  April, not knowing her uncle was totally blind, happily pulled the hair out of his eyes when Uncle David asked her to do so.  Together they would travel to the store from Simons Gardens to Hollywood Terrace and back; and come back with a bag of candy.  Mom and Dad seemed to have confidence in blind Uncle David’s traveling skills.  They didn’t worry about April’s safety.  However, when Uncle David asked Dad to close his eyes while they crossed Lander’s Lane together, daddy George refused.  He wasn’t that confident.  Huffman was thrilled with the blind acceptance of a small child.
